The Monarchy Tour goes in depth about how Rome's government incorporated this style of government. The consuls, similar to our president, commanded and directed the military and government for a yearlong term.  A dictator, too had absolute power to make law and command the army for 6 months. Although this is not per say a monarchy since there is no hereditary positions, it is quite similar. In this tour, people will learn a lot about the power the consuls had as well as the dictator. * This tour is interactive so it is recommended for children.

The Democracy tour illustrates a large part of Rome's governmental system. The Assemblies, a more the democratic aspect, included the tribal assembly, the common people law. In this tour, lasting only a few hours, you will join tour guide Hannah to the areas where the Romans held their assemblies and exercised their right as a democracy. Participants will realize how a freedom to vote should be valued today in our society.

The aristocratic branch tour is a great tour that is especially recommended for children in school. The senate, the aristocratic branch, performed the legislative and administrative functions with 300 members representing the public.  This is similar to our senate, a great opportunity for students to recognize the similarities to our government.

History Tour

This tour will generally speak about Rome's government. This tour will include how for centuries, Rome’s wealthy landowners (the Patricians), and the common people (the Plebeians) fought for supremacy in the government. As a compromise, Rome’s leaders allowed the underrepresented Plebeians to create their own assembly with representatives called the tribunes. In turn, they created the first written law code called the 12 tables, the foundation for the future of Roman law.

The Roman Republic blended the best aspects of a monarchy, aristocracy, and democracy to rule over the public.
